Self-referencing circular dichroism ion yield measurements for improved statistics using femtosecond laser pulses

The combination of circular dichroism with laser mass spectrometry via the measurement ion yields is a powerful tool in chiral recognition, but measured anisotropies are generally weak. method presented this contribution reduces error significantly. A common path optical setup generates pair counter-rotating foci interaction region time-of-flight spectrometer. As space focus condition fulfilled for both individually, becomes twin-peak source well separated and sufficiently resolved peaks. individual control polarization allows situ correction experimental fluctuations measuring dichroism. Our robust produces reliable reproducible results applicable dispersion sensitive femtosecond pulses. In contribution, we use 3-methyl-cyclopentanone as prototype molecule to illustrate evaluation procedure principle.

Enantioselective femtosecond laser photoionization spectrometry of limonene using photoelectron circular dichroism.

Limonene is ionized by circularly polarized 420 nm femtosecond laser pulses. Ion mass and photoelectron energy spectra identify the dominant (2 + 1) multiphoton ionization mechanism, aided by TDDFT calculations of the Rydberg excitations.
